End of month: Sunrise 5:34am, Sunset 8:22pm
Across the UK, April temperatures average a daily high of 12 degrees Celsius (54 degrees Fahrenheit) and a low of 4 °C (39 °F).
With the clocks moving forward at the end of last month we are able to spend more time on the allotment in the evenings. Days can be quite warm but with cold, often frosts, overnight so care must be taken to protect any newly planted vegetables and flowers. It’s typical in recent years to have a day or two of snow.
In the potting shed there are lots of seeds to be sown for the vegetable patch whereas most flowers can be sown towards the end of the month, early May.
